Propaganda film

I have to watch Triumph of the Will for a class I’m taking and it’s like a Nazi era propaganda film. It’s kind of ironic, but the way the Nazi propaganda film starts off reminds me of rap videos. Hitler gets off a private plane to cheering fans, then gets in his car and drives past loads of cheering people before he gives a speech in front of a passionate crowd. I mean, that’s literally how every other rap music video starts out. The rapper gets off their private jet, into their expensive car, and drives up to the event venue to crowds of cheering people before they get up on stage. That’s literally how Hitler’s Nazi propaganda films were.

Anxiety & Akwardness
I am at a comedy show that will be starting in 40 minutes. I went by myself and I am at a table all by myself as well. Everyone has someone and I have no one....
It’s just so weird how it’s the exact same formula except it’s Adolf Hitler.
ReplyIt’s like the exact same in your face “I’m popular, I’m rich, I have my own plane, everyone is cheering for me” thing that rappers have. Even the way the Nazis that are speaking keep bragging, “we have created this many thousand new jobs, with the help of Hitler our nation has achieved this, we are doing this here” just the constant one statement after another of self affirmation of their own excellence, with the exaggerated confidence and the tempo they speak at, they speak rhythmically to make their point stronger on purpose. It’s just bizarre to me. It’s from the 1930s and the pace is way way slower than any rap video would ever be, but it’s actually legitimately similar and it’s just so bizarre. It’s like the same kind of vicarious feeling that’s supposed to be inspired by a rapper bragging about how much money they have, except it’s Hitler bragging about what he’s done for “the nation.”
ReplyI’ve heard people say before they don’t see how Hitler is charismatic in any way and I felt the same way before, but looking at that, he legitimately must have been a genius at creating propaganda. And the point of the film is basically to disguise Hitler’s intentions to draft up millions of people as “making everyone work for the nation so that everyone experiences what it means to be a common German” or whatever, but I’ve never seen any modern politician make anything near that. Even Vladimir Putin. I’ve seen a couple of Russia’s military recruitment videos. This video that Hitler made, somebody could sign away their life to fight in his army to avoid getting arrested for not meeting a work requirement thinking they’re just going to be doing farm work. It’s for an evil purpose, but it’s not stupid.
ReplyStop giving SHITler air time.
ReplyAnd I know it’s a small minority of American conservatives, but some American conservatives say mandatory military conscription would be a good thing and some countries like South Korea or Israel have it. The fact that Hitler was genius enough he didn’t even call conscription conscription, he didn’t even call the draft a draft, he didn’t say it’s because it’s your Duity as a German to fight for your country. The words in the film are, “We do not fight, yet we are soldiers because we work for the nation.” That is just so incredibly simple, but it makes all the difference in the world. He wanted to portray military conscription as a means of economic catharsis. That the poor get to see the rich do the same work they have to. And then he send millions of people to die that way. That’s just incredible to me. I mean, Vladimir Putin isn’t even that smart.
ReplyAnd it makes sense now why the nazis called themselves “national socialist.” That’s what it is. They used economic angst from the lower class as a means to foster extreme nationalist sentiment.
ReplyHe was a mad man and a tyrant that had his own people and the world fooled with horrible atrocities with the deaths of millions of innocents. Looking at the things in the Auschwitz museum they took prosthetics , piles of human hair and things is just nauseating.
