winter is here, her attendance impeccable. she consumes you, invading your weak senses. her ice slowly, but surely, freezes over your lungs, restricting your breath. but that’s okay, right?
you don’t mind, you deserve it.
winter is the anxiety on sleepless nights, she is the suffocation you feel every where you turn, she is the vicious animal clawing away at your conscience, she is the tiny voice, whispering in your vulnerable ears, ‘do it. you’re nothing anyways.’
winter hurts you, slices you open, exposing your veins, ensuring that summer will never turn his face to you again.
she makes sure that summer won’t thaw the ice in your lungs, to ease your breathing, struggling, exhaustion.
when winter is in her calmest moments, when she is only a nagging voice in your head, you realise that you do want summer to return. summer has to come. as, it awaits. it’ll always seek its way back to save you from winter’s strong grip.
you don’t want to die with winter’s arms wrapped tightly around you. you’d rather die with summer’s back teasing you, almost within your grasp.
but, this time round, winter’s ice is colder than yours, and her hail, snow and rain descends down on you so harshly, somehow burning your skin open. bleeding you dry of all you’ve got left.
it seems as if winter is killing you softly with her soft lullabies. she lulls you to sleep with her reassuring words, wanting nothing more than for you to never wake from your slumber.
you struggle to fight the urge, you struggle so hard, while winter’s song becomes even softer, if possible. your ability to see right from wrong and good from bad slowly begins to fade, along with winter’s resounding song.
you lift your heavy eyes to meet her deceitful smirk, as realisation seeps it’s way into your bruised and beaten skin.
you can’t escape this winter, no matter how hard you try.
you can struggle and fight the inevitable, you’ll end right back it winter’s loving hands.
but, that’s okay, right?
you deserve it anyway.
