Pulling my hair has always been a stress-relief. But recently, I tend to have the urge to pull my hair out of boredom. I don't pull randomly, though. There's that one spot on my head that always become my target. I've heard there's a disorder for it, but I've yet been diagnosed. I keep this problem to myself and I'm very worried. Despite trying to stop, my hands will unconsciously go to my hair. Sometimes, I don't even realize I was pulling my hair.

ReplyHello. I have a bachelor's degree in psychology. Pulling hair is a form of self-harm. I recommend talking to a professional as soon as possible.
You need a healthy coping skills for what sounds like anxiety disorder. (I am not a doctor, so legally I cannot diagnosis you.)
Healthy coping skills include:
• deep breathing
• positive thinking ( "everything will be fine.")
• go for a walk
• take a shower/bath
• a hobby (coloring, writing, painting, etc)
These are just some examples. Please restrain from continuing to pull your hair and beginning using the healthy coping skills. If you cannot stop, you must seek a professional for your safety. You could end up with bald spots if you continue. I hope this helps.
