Paradise, California. The tiny mountain town that was destroyed by the Camp Fire. My tiny town. Paradisians are stubborn and loud mouthed, we will let you know what's on our mind. Our community may have been destroyed but were too stubborn to move on from the town. At least most of us. Some people have lost too much, been through too much on the frightening day of November 8th when the fire came barreling through, so fast we barely had a warning. Thank god for neighbors and family who alerted those who had no idea. Some weren't so lucky, only to look outside and see your backyard on fire. Too late to run anywhere, too late to call for help since the power and cell towers were burning along with the trees. We will remember our neighbors, aunts and uncles, brother and sisters, parents, grandparents. You see, Paradise is special. Close enough to a city to get supplies that you couldn't in town, but still secluded to see the Milky Way, hear crickets and wildlife peeking around for scraps. We love our football and beer, Jesus and hunting, mudding at the High Lakes. Everyone knew everyone, if you didn't know that person, you'd know their mom or cousin. We won't leave without a fight. You can take us out of Paradise, but you can't take the Paradise out of us.
