Me and my boyfriend have been dating for almost three months now, and I haven't yet ever brought up anything regarding my depression and anxiety. I never felt the need to, but I feel that its gonna come up, obviously, at some point. I'm just scared hes going to react some of like the others. Leave me and make me feel awful about who I am. I dont think hes that person but I'm just scared.

My Unsent Letter
Dear Best Friend, I would never say this to you, nor would I ever want this to get to you. I love you from the bottom of my heart but I feel like you have...
I'm sorry if what I say isn't exactly something that could put you at ease. First of all, you're absolutely right that this topic is going to come up at some point and the sooner you talk to him about this, the better. I understand that it's scary...but the pain (if he responds negatively about this) would be much lesser if you do this now rather than later - since later you would have already invested too much of yourself into the relationship and it would hurt way more then. So, please find a time to talk to him about your depression and anxiety and I sincerely hope he understands. Remember to always take care of yourself.
ReplyAh and I almost forgot, those people who left you after hearing about your problems? They sound like they weren't very understanding people in the first place, so it's better that they're out of your life. Don't feel awful about yourself because of people like that. It's not worth it.
ReplyI don't think you should tell him. He should figure it out himself. And if he doesn't he's not the one and go to a therapist.
