The Internet has taken over my life, and I want it to stop. Or at the very least, become less of a presence in my life. But I find it really hard not to reach for my phone every couple of minutes... Any advice on how I could stop being online so much and be more active irl?

i literally deleted my social media apps a while ago for a week or two and that really helped. it takes a minute to stop checking your phone but it works. just if you have an iphone, they have the screen time thing so just set a time limit then have someone (friend, parents, sibling etc.) set the code. idk if this helps lol
ReplyI suggest that you figure out why it is that you are online soo much. You may find that the answer is a mixed-bag of reasons, which is okay. Once you know why then you can move towards learning self-control.
Figure out which of the reasons are truly necessary, and then consider how often and how much time is reasonable to spend on each one. For example, a college student may find that checking her/his school email account daily, during the semester, is crucial in staying up to date with class work. However, this same student may find that checking her/his Facebook account is less of a priority, and therefore only checks it once a week and limits how long she/he will stay logged-in.
I hope this helps. Good luck.
ReplyHave you ever read the book, The Other Side of Lost by Jesse Kirbi? It's a phenomenal book, you could try sitting outside reading it and maybe it will even inspire you to do more.
