Tomorrow I’m given the results for a cervical cancer screening- a colposcopy. The colposcopy itself was traumatizing enough- a biopsy of tissue with a little numbing cream- and I’m terrified that either it’s more than a mild concern, and that it’s potentially HPV. My mother and I agreed that it would be worse to have a permanent STD than cancer- simply because one can be cured. Either way, my future, including children’s is compromised. Fuck.

I am sure there are other ways of having kids.
ReplyThat sucks, I have cancer too. Hopefully your results turn out a lot better than mine.
Best of luck to you. My cancer is incurable, I try not to worry about things I cannot control, hopefully your results aren’t as bad or if they are you can find a way to do that too.
ReplyWhat kind of cancer do you have that's incurable?
ReplyBreast cancer metastasized to my bones and liver.
ReplyI can't imagine how difficult that is... Wishing all the best to you in being cured
ReplyWow, I wish the best for you, dear. I can't imagine. I've had a cervical biopsy before and it was really awful. Waiting for results would be terrifying. Good luck!
ReplyGod is a miracle worker and I am praying that h removes that cancer from your body right now amen
ReplyHPV isn’t permanent. Research it. The body can and often eradicates it on its own over time. Not all types lead to cancer. It’s not even necessarily and STD. Virgins can have HPV. Also, HPV isn’t a new virus. Pretty much most of our ancestors most likely had or carried it and many didn’t know or where effected by it (unless they had the type they created temporary warts).
HPV isn’t a death sentence. And during your colposcopy, they use vinegar to highlight abnormal tissue. That tissue is removed and tested. Generally removing the effected tissue is sufficient in allowing for future PAP smears to read as normal.
This is coming from someone who once had an abnormal pap, colposcopy, was told had pre-cancerous cells, waited 6 months for my body to balance out through diligent exercise and healthier eating, second pap came back normal—first pap was then deemed a ”false positive” (sure it was🙄😒🤔). Years later still norm paps and the HPV I was diagnosed with at 16 years old went away at 25 yrs. I’m almost 40 and have no problems with my cervix and still HPV free. I didn’t get that vaccine either.
I say all that to say, stay positive, do your research, stay informed, don’t let doctors tell you what’s best no matter what results say. Get second opinions and trust your body.
