Throughout my life I've felt invisible. Never the one who gets attention and never the one to feel loved by anyone.
I graduated university with high Mark's and to be honest the people who I thought would forget and wouldn't care were the ones who gave me the most attention.
My grandma who has hated me her whole life got me a cake and cards.
My father who neglected me my whole life hugged me and said he was proud .
My mother who has been through SO much cried on my shoulder and let me know how proud she was.
My cousins and family who made fun of me being different congratulated me, gave me gifts, cards and wishes in a successful future.
Fair to say I cried. I have NEVER felt this much love in my life. Not even on my birthday. I'm so happy right now and this is the first time I've been happy in months.
I struggled so hard with this degree and to see this much love going into congratulating me and seeing how much they saw me struggle was definitely worth it. I now have a successful job which I'll be starting soon.
You can get through any hardships If you try hard. I did and it paid off in the end. No matter how many times everyone says try harder, you do just that because you can try harder. And everything will work out at the end. These struggles only last until you yourself mentally can convince yourself that you can do it.
I know how cliche it sounds but seriously, do it and prove to the people who doubted you that you are better than them.

A little note of encouragement

Some people just need to work on expressing their love shamelessly. I myself can get embarrassed by expressing how much I care, but deep down, of course I care. I congratulate you on achieving something so big in your life and for feeling a long-lost feeling. What degree is it by the way? Is there a field of some kind?
ReplyI definitely feel the same. Receiving all this love was weird for me and I didn't know how to react. I may have been awkward at times but I'm sure they got my message haha. It's a bachelors degree of science in medical and clinical technology and engineering. Thank you for your congratulatory message, I appreciate it x
ReplyThat is a demanding field and you will most likely have no financial struggles, so good job! This was worth congratulating and you have reached a major milestone in your life. Hopefully, this confusing moment of happiness will all piece together for you. Know that you can always achieve a masters and a p.H.D if you're willing to and continue to grow as a person, there is a lot your life has to offer especially with a supportive and appreciative family you are blessed with
May God guide you on the best path, Amen
ReplyJust for clarification: You chose your graduation or your family pressured you to follow a path?
You know...people like this only stick around if we do what they want
ReplyI understand that definitely, I chose to get a degree in this. I know they'll probably go back to the way they were before but at that moment I felt so much love from the family I wasn't thinking about them going back to their original ways.
