I'm the only introvert in our class and my classmates are all extroverts. My classmates always ask me this things "why are you so quiet?" "You have a mouth why can't you talk?" "Are you mute or something?" Etc. Earlier in our class I was paying attention to class and my teacher came to me during discussion she said " who are you? I'm not familiar with your face, Are you always absent?" and other things I forgot. She said it OUT LOUD so my other classmates can hear what she said. I heard my classmates whispering "she's too quiet to get notice" "she should talk more like us" and other whispered teasing me I heard their laughs. I'm always present in school so it hurts me when my teacher said she doesn't notice me and I've done a report yesterday. I'm a very sensitive person what my teacher said I take it really personally. I have social anxiety that just makes it even worse. Should I change my introvert self? I'm tired of being shamed by others because of I'm an introvert

Being an introvert is awesome. I'm one too and I love it. You attract less toxic people. Right now it sucks but wait till you graduate and these people are no longer in you're life. If it bothers you a lot, you can work on being an ambivert but sometimes it sucks when you just want to be alone and they keep bothering.
ReplyI am introvert too. And whatever the world might tell you its not an illness. Its just you. You are as amazing as any extrovert. Your imagination is vivid and wonderful. Use your magic and show them what you can do. The worst situations that a person with social anxiety face on daily basis is in the classroom. The teachers seems like a monster that will eat you and the classmates seem like demon who will laugh at you if you speak anything. This feeling never went away. Even though i am in college now. People have called me dumb on my face. My parents think i don't speak because i don't want to but they don't know that even going to class at times feels impossible. That i have skipped school just to not face the people who said "she can't speak" a day before. You know you don't have a mental illness. Its just a block, something to overcome at times when you have to get through situations. Some days are good, some are so hard that you think you won't be able to make it to next day. Its all because some crappy people out there talk negative about you and deep in there you know you are not like that. You are kind, gentle, quirky, you have amazing personality. You open up only to a few. And its alright. Its alright. Except who you are. Make the best of your life. Don't feel down and don't leave. Face them. Because its them who are shit mouthed. Its them who couldn't understand you.

ReplyAs a teacher myself, I’d like to apologise to you for this. It is always easier to learn the names of those in the class who speak out, at the end of the day we do say their names the most and not always for positive reasons. However, as the pupil who kept their head down and worked when others caused a stir, I knew the importance of getting to know the ‘good, quiet’ kids in my classroom, not calling them out to embarrass them but ensuring they know they are appreciated as members of the class. I find it is a privilege getting to know every pupil I teach, especially those that feel like they would rather blend into the background.
ReplyPeople are so disgusting. As someone with social anxiety I'm well aware of these occurances, with similar situations happening to me. My teachers would out me in front of everyone making you more self concious, and as someone with social anxiety, I hate attention being on me. Teachers are so out of touch as well as students being vile. When you leave school and these idiots you'll feel 1000 X better and actually be able to grow and improve your amxiety without the idiocy of teachers and immature students.
