It's so fun to make light of serious things. Making 'light' of something serious tells everyone in the room two things: First, it tells them to not take 'it' so damn seriously, and second, because it made them laugh, it tells them that it is still, in fact, serious, but maybe they shouldn't take it so seriously because it's actually that scary.
See what I'm saying here? I think its a call of nature to laugh at serious things so we don't scare ourselves into a state of shock or complacency where nothing is achieved. You're just too scared by the reality of it all. You become too afraid to venture out into the world and text the forces of good and evil.
That's what I call the "grasping plateau"--A place of fear and isolation.
I take heart in being able to laugh at serious things knowing that one day I won't have to make 'light' of them, but as it currently stands, I'm just not that strong--and if I wasn't allowed to take baby steps to the top; if I wasn't allowed to be weak before I could get strong, then I don't know what the point would be in living in a world where you had to be scrupulous about every decision you made.
There's no reason to really be afraid at all.
It shouldn't grasp you and leave you breathless, exhausted--yearning for the universe to finally give you a definitive answer.
Just be honest with yourself and face your problems at the pace you can handle them.
