I know it’s late but I would like to share something I wrote a few years ago for #worldmentalhealthday
What Depression feels like to me
Depression is sitting in a room full of people offering help you and still feeling alone.
Depression is acting, putting on a fake smile and saying you fine when your broken.
Depression is thinking everything is worthless and wanting to end it all but being to scared to.
Depression is a wave of emotions until you feel numb and somehow that’s the worst of all.
Depression is wanting to cry for help but depression is the thing that stops you from crying for help.
Depression is not being able to see the bigger picture.
You don’t have to cry all the time, or cut yourself to show your depressed every one is different.
Depression is being trapped in your own mind but staying silent.
Depression is slowly giving up.
Just because someone doesn’t show signs of depression it doesn’t mean they aren’t.
I was always silent about my mental health and i got through it on my own but many people can’t so I praise those who speak out and I hope you do as suffering in silence is the worst of all. I know what it is like coming out about your mental health, people may have different opinions, and to the people who don’t suffer please be more considerate, don’t call those who do attention seekers and don’t make jokes about mental heath as it’s not a thing to joke about. Millions of people have lost their lives to depression and millions still are. Don’t stay silent. Don’t judge people. More and more people need to get involved in this movement and start listening, we all need to open our eyes before it’s to late.
