INTRODUCTION:
I am going to tell you a story of a girl, a broken, a lost and, a doubtful, she faced a lot of hardships in her life. She was mentally, physically, and emotionally abused, but aside from everything she looked at the bright side of everything in her life, she chose to be happy most of the time and pushed everything to the back of her brain, rather than cry every day. Cassidy was a young happy girl, but let’s start from where everything went downhill.
First Story
Before Cassidy was 11 years old her life was so great she was happy with her friends and family, and her Step-Mom was expecting twins, she was so excited to meet them, but before they were born Cassidy had a taste of who her Step-Mom really was. Cassidy had just got back from school, her friends mom had just dropped her off at home and she wanted to watch her favorite TV show Wizards Of Waverly Place before she started her homework, but before she was even able to watch it her 3 year old little sister Rayanne came in the living room with scissors and had cut her hair. Cassidy was so shocked, she woke her Step-Mom, who was asleep on the couch and showed her. Cassidy’s’ Step-Mom was so furious, and went to the fridge and got the paddle from the top it. Cassidy was so confused and at first thought her Step-Mom was going to spank her 3 year old little sister with it, and out of the blue told her that it was her fault and should have checked on her little sister when she got home, that she just wanted to watch her favorite TV show before she started her homework. Her Step-Mom looked at Cassidy and said, “Yes, you should have, what were you thinking! I can’t believe you! How stupid are you? You leave me no choice but to punish you.”Cassidy was prepared to get maybe 3 swats, but that’s not at all what she got her Step-Mom made her bend over the couch and started going at it Cassidy was screaming and crying, then her Step-Mom started making Cassidy doing jumping jacks while spanking Cassidy with the paddle, Cassidy was so scared and hurting, she started to pee herself. Her Step-Mom started to spank her even more, so Cassidy turned around and said, while crying profusely. “Please stop I’m sorry! I’m sorry!” Her Step-Mom looked at her and made Cassidy go outside with her sister Rayanne, and made them stay outside till Cassidy’s dad had got home. Cassidy thought to herself that she was going to tell her dad, but then wondered about how she was going to see her little sister and the twins, and just couldn’t bring herself to tell her dad with the thought of her dad divorcing her for what her Step-Mom had done to Cassidy, so Cassidy had toughened up, and pushed what her Step-Mom had done to the back of her brain. Cassidy had thought that her Step-Mom wouldn’t ever treat her like that again, and she didn’t for a while.
Second Story
After the twins were born Cassidy and Rayanne were so excited! When they got to the hospital they were told the names of the twins, the baby girls name was Alex and the baby boy was named after Cassidy’s dad, James. Cassidy was the happiest she had been in so long, she adored the two new members of the family, and thought to herself how happy she was going to be helping her Step-Mom with the babies. When Cassidy’s Step-Mom finally got to come home with the babies it was all so new and different, but she was determined to show that she could help out and prove that she could be helpful. Cassidy’s dad was working so much making sure that we had the money and what not, so Cassidy’s Step-Mom moved the bed to the living room and Cassidy slept on it and helped with James and her Step-Mom had Alex, because she was too small for me to take care of at night, so I got to take care of James. Cassidy was so happy with the fact that she was able to help; it made her feel special and wanted. One day Cassidy had just turned 12 and her Step-Mom had told her that if her grades started to slip that she wouldn’t allow her to help with the twins anymore, and Cassidy was determined to show her that she could keep her grades up, and when the report card had come in she had straight A’s! Cassidy’s Step-Mom and dad were so proud of her and how responsible and determined she was and they let her continue to help with the babies. Cassidy was so happy because she knew that she could do it. One day Cassidy her whole family including her other Sister Stacey went to the lake and spent the day there having so much fun playing, riding bikes, and just spending family time together. The twins were around 6 months old. That night they all were getting settled in and Cassidy and her sister Stacey were asleep on the air mattress in her dad and Step-Moms room, and the twins were asleep with them in the bed, they all had such a good day and had went to bed without knowing what the next day had held for the whole family.
The next day they all woke up to Cassidy’s Step-Mom screaming bloody murder saying James wasn’t breathing and that he was cold and Cassidy’s dad and Step-Mom rushed to the hospital with her baby brother, and had left all her sisters with Cassidy to take care of, she was so scared and didn’t understand what was going on, and was home alone with a Stacey, Rayanne, and Alex. Cassidy knew exactly what to do and how to take care of them. Stacey’s mom had came by and picked her up, after that it was just Cassidy after that, and she was prepared, but scared and worried, she didn’t know what was going on. About an hour later her Nana had stopped by and told us that she was about to take them to the hospital, and Cassidy kept asking if her brother was okay, and her nana wouldn’t answer, and Cassidy asked her if he was dead, her Nana didn’t answer that either Cassidy was balling her eyes out terrified that her brother was dead, she wasn’t getting any answers. They had finally gotten to the hospital, and her Nana had taken Alex from her and stayed outside with Rayanne too. Cassidy was escorted to a private part of the hospital and had entered a room and seen her Step-Mom holding James balling her eyes out. That’s when she told Cassidy that James had passed away sometime during the night. Cassidy fell to the floor balling her eyes out asking how, and they didn’t know, but a nurse had taken James from her Step-Mom and brought him to her asking if she wanted to hold him, and Cassidy was crying telling the nurse no and the nurse had kept bringing him closer telling her that she’d never get to hold him again and Cassidy kept telling her he wanted to remember him when he was alive and happy, finally Cassidy’s Step-Mom told the nurse to leave her alone and the nurse handed James back to her. Cassidy’s world was broken and she was scared, she didn’t want to accept that her baby brother was dead, She was confused she knew that he was giggling and happy yesterday, she didn’t know at the time that her dad had rolled over him while he was asleep, she was told that he had passed away from SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome).
As you all can tell Cassidy’s world had crumbled in a matter of months, and was lost in everyone’s pool of sadness, and the funeral was just as hard for her, at his funeral she was asked to speak and she did she had read from the pages that she had written about him. It was hard for her to keep her tears at bay, but she was determined to read to everyone what she had to say about her baby brother, she was determined to tell them every unique and special part about him, the hardest part to tell them was when she said, “I remember when I would walk around with him, and sing the song Smile by Uncle Kracker to him and he would just look up at me and smile and then fall asleep, that was mine and James’ special song, a day wouldn’t go by that I wouldn’t sing it to him” Cassidy found it hard to talk about that part, because right then and there she realized right then and there that she was never going to get to hold him and sing that song to him again, and that crushed her heart, it broke her she knew this was it, she knew that the last time she was going to get to see him was in that beautiful white casket, and that thought scared her and broke her even more. Cassidy knew that she had to stay tough and finish reading her letter to everyone. After she had finished her letter they began to play a song that Cassidy had picked out it was The Band Perry’s song If I Die Young. Later that day they headed to the cemetery and buried him. Cassidy was determined to help bury her baby brother so she grabbed a shovel and started to throw dirt in the ground and she knew this was the end of her families’ happiness and she knew that things would never again be the same.
THIRD STORY
After Cassidy’s brother passed away things had changed for the worse. Her dad turned to dark liquor, and her Step-Mom had turned to liquor and meth. Cassidy had turned to food; they all had their own version of what they had filled with their addictions, some stronger than the others. Cassidy’s dad became and violent abusive drunk towards Cassidy’s Step-Mom, and her Step-Mom, became someone that Cassidy would no longer recognize. She sought the feeling of what meth did to her, and turned her into Cassidy’s own personal demon that would have the satisfaction of tormenting her. She enjoyed the fact that she would now and forever fear her Step-Mom. Cassidy’s Step-Mom started to seclude herself from the family, leaving Cassidy to take care of her two little sisters, to cook, feed, bathe them, and do everything that a mom should be doing for her children, but that was not the case. Cassidy learned that she would have to mature up, and learn to be the role model that her sisters would need, because she knew that her parents weren’t going to, for the fact that they were mourning the loss of their son, and had their addictions control them and blind what them to what was reality. Cassidy knew that was no reason to basically abandon them and leave her to take care of a 7 month old baby and a 4 year old kid, she was frustrated. All the kids her age were getting to be their age and have fun, they were just being kids, but Cassidy was stuck at home, play the Mom role, even though she didn’t want to, she knew that it was necessary.
One day Cassidy came home and was doing laundry. She came across something that looked like a long clear glass light bulb, but it was burnt. Her Step-Mom swung the restroom door open and Cassidy accidently dropped it, her Step-Mom was so outraged. She started hit the sides of Cassidy’s arms, screaming at her, hitting her arms and legs over and over again. Cassidy didn’t understand why she was being hit; she thought it was a light bulb. After all of that Cassidy was in her room, crying and waiting for her Dad to come home, because her bedroom was right by the front door. When her dad got home she started to cry, and her dad came in her room asking her what was wrong. Cassidy told him everything, her dad was so outraged, and he stormed out of her room. That day Cassidy went to bed early, she woke up the next day bright and early to her Step-Mom waiting in the living room with the paddle; Cassidy done knew what she was getting in trouble for, as she could see her Step-Mom had two black eyes. Cassidy tried talking to her Step-Mom, but all her Step-Mom could say was, “I’m going to teach you a lesson, you’re going to learn not to tell your dad everything! You see my face! This is because of you Cassidy. You just couldn’t keep your fucking mouth shut could you? Bend your ass over I’m about to beat your ass! I can’t believe you told your dad about my pipe, and how much I hit you! You’re about to find out what a real ass whopping is! I don’t enjoy being the bad guy, but because of you I can’t show my face to anyone. It’s only fair you shouldn’t get to sit down without it hurting!” Cassidy cried and begged her not to spank her with the paddle, but her Step-Mom threw her over the couch and started swing, she hit her back, her legs, and her hands when she tried to put them back there. Cassidy lost count.
Cassidy went to school that day with pants and long sleeve shirt and jacket on, even though it was really hot that day. She couldn’t risk anyone seeing what had happened. Her friends knew something was up, but Cassidy didn’t answer. Cassidy’s boyfriend Mark picked her up from school that day, and knew something was wrong, so he took her to his house; she told him everything, then proceeded to show him all the marks that her Step-Mom left on her. Mark tried to get Cassidy to show the police, but she explained to him that she had her little sisters to take care of, and how important it was for no one to know what her Step-Mom had done to her. Mark held her and told her that he wished he could protect her but he knew that Cassidy had to want to be saved, and then he took her home but dropped her off down the street so that her Step-Mom wouldn’t see them together. He kissed Cassidy goodbye and left.
FOURTH STORY
Cassidy faced a lot, but she had friends who helped her see the bright side of things, without them knowing what was really going on. She was very sad and depressed at times, but she refused to be sad all the time. Cassidy would tell herself all the time that things were going to get better, but it really didn’t and she didn’t understand. One day Cassidy came home with her half semester report card her 9th grade year, and saw that she had a 79 in Biology. She was so scared to show her Step-Mom, but knew she needed to. Cassidy came home and showed her Step-Mom, once she finally decided to come out of her room with all of her dope buddies. Her Step-Mom was happy with Cassidy’s grades until she saw the 79. She looked up from the paper, and said, “We will talk about your punishment later.” Cassidy was so scared, but she decided to clean the house like she always did. She finished cleaning the house, and her Step-Mom was saying bye to her friends, then she came upstairs and said, “Go get your sneakers, shorts, and different shirt on!” Cassidy was so confused, but she listened. They got in the car and her Step-Mom drove them to the track down the road, they walked to the bleachers and down to the track. Cassidy realized that her Step-Mom had the paddle in her hand, and asked her why she had it and her Step-Mom looked at her and said, “Start running, I’m going to run with you, but if I catch up to you, I will hit you with this paddle, and if you stop running I promise it will be ten times worse for you. I have long legs and I have no problem running. So your fat ass better get to running, and remember if I catch up to you this paddle will swing where ever it can reach!” Cassidy was so embarrassed and scared. Some of her friends from school were there. So Cassidy started to run trying to keep a steady pace, but her Step-Mom started to sprint towards her and Cassidy started to run as fast as she could and her Step-Mom caught up to her and started to swing the paddle at her. Cassidy’s friends at school saw it and her Step-Mom ran over to them, and said, “Cassidy and I are trying to motivate ourselves to lose weight so her and I are taking turns chasing each other down the track with this paddle cause it hurts. I promise I wouldn’t be doing this in public if it wasn’t harmless.” Then Cassidy’s friends left and her Step-Mom looked at Cassidy and said, “I don’t believe I said that you could stop running!” Her Step-Mom started to hit her with the paddle all over, and Cassidy started to run with her Step-Mom chasing after her sprinting again. Cassidy was running as fast as she could, and was being hit with the paddle the whole time she was running. Eventually Cassidy fell to the ground out of breath, with her Step-Mom yelling at her, and hitting her with the paddle all over. Cassidy was screaming and crying, finally when she realized that her Step-Mom had stopped it was because Cassidy’s boyfriend Mark showed up and made her stop. Cassidy heard them talking, but was too scared to move, and pretty much couldn’t move either. Cassidy heard Mark say, “You better leave! I think Cassidy has had enough; there is no reason for you to be beating her like this, especially out in public.” Her Step-Mom then said, “I don’t know who you think you are, but this is between my daughter and I! I already handled the people who were here, you can go ahead and leave!” Mark then looked over at Cassidy and saw her laying on the ground trembling and crying. He then told her, “I’m not leaving, in fact I know what you did to Cassidy last time, and I am prepared to go to the cops, unless you let me take Cassidy home with me for a few days, looks to me that you have anger that you’re taking out on her, and this is unnecessary.” Her Step-Mom looked over at Cassidy and said, “Fine take her fat ass, I don’t want her home anyways. Enjoy her while you can, I know you’ll bring her back once she don’t fuck you when you want!” Before Cassidy’s Step-Mom left she bent down to the ground and whispered in her ear, “He may have saved you this time, but remember I am the only one who truly knows how old Mark is, don’t you think dating a guy who is 20 is a bit slutty for you. Have fun with Mark, because when you come home I will be waiting for you with this paddle.” Then her Step-Mom left.
After Cassidy’s Step-Mom left Mark picked her up and carried her to his truck and took her to his house and helped her in and out of the truck and up to his house to his bedroom. He then went to the bathroom and ran her some bath water, and then helped her into the tub, (because Cassidy could barely walk) he then told Cassidy, “I don’t know what you did for your Step-Mom to be like that and do what she did, but I just couldn’t stand seeing her beat on you like that with you screaming. I know we have only been together for a year, but I feel the need to protect you I love you Cassidy, why don’t you move in with me! We can be happy together, I will never lay a hand on you, I will never make you fear me, and you will never have to wonder if you’re good enough, because you are perfect for me. I will take care of you; I won’t ever let your Step-Mom hurt you while you’re with me. I will protect you. I see the fear you have for her, all the bruises on your body isn’t okay it hurts me to see you like this, it makes me mad to see you cover your body in long sleeves and pants just to cover what she has done. You don’t have to give me an answer yet, but always know you have a home here with me.” Cassidy cried in the bath for the fact that Mark told her that he loved her after seeing everything that her Step-Mom did to her. She was crying because she loved Mark with every beat of her heart, she loved him so much. She was crying because she wanted to live with him, but she knew that her little sisters would need her to keep them safe and she told him that part. Mark understood exactly what she meant, but he responded to her with, “Cassidy you won’t be able to protect them forever, they will eventually need to see who she is and what she is capable of. I know you will go back home in a few days, but know these few days you’re here I will take care of you, and make you feel safe. I really do love you.” You see Cassidy always felt safe when she was with Mark.
Those few days Cassidy spent with Mark was spent with him taking care of her, taking her to school, making her dinner, buying her clothes for his house, he even bought her a new phone, so even if her Step-Mom took her other phone from her she could still get a hold of him no matter what. He respected the fact that Cassidy wanted to stay a virgin, he told her, “I’m not ready to make love with you yet, I want you to know in your heart when you’re ready, I want you to know that I am not using you, I want you to believe everything about our relationship.” Cassidy was so in love with Mark and she knew that within her soul too. She felt that Mark was her savior, she felt completely safe with him.
The next day when Mark took Cassidy home she was expecting to see her Step-Mom waiting for her with the paddle, but what she saw was her dad yelling at her asking her where Cassidy was and why she hadn’t been home for 3 days and why was he hearing that she was beating Cassidy with the paddle at the high school track. Cassidy then heard her dad to start to hit her Step-Mom, she then ran into the room to break them up knowing that her dad wouldn’t ever lay a hand on her like he did with her Step-Mom, Cassidy then screamed at him with her Step-Mom hiding behind her crying. Cassidy told him, “Dad I’m okay! I don’t know why you were hearing that mom was beating me with the paddle at the high school track, I been at Allisons house, (Cassidy’s best friend) I asked mom if I could stay with her for a few days, her dog that she had since she was little passed away, and she needed me.” Cassidy’s dad then stood up and said, “Let me see your arms and legs then.” Cassidy then looked at her Step-Mom and said, “Mom leave the room; take the girls to the park.” Her Step-Mom then left the room crying and took the girls. Cassidy then talked to her dad and convinced him that she didn’t hurt her. Her dad had tears in his eyes and said, “I was worried about you, I know your mom and I haven’t been the best role models lately, but if she has ever treated you like I have been hearing you can tell me. I promise I will kick her out and divorce her. My kids come first!” Cassidy then thought in her head “If I tell dad everything, her violence will end, but I wouldn’t get to see my sisters, she would have so much evidence against my dad to send him to jail.” Cassidy then looked at her dad and said, “Dad I promise mom hasn’t hurt me in any way that I can’t handle.” Her dad then walked out of the room and went to the bar and didn’t come home until the next day. :((
