She exudes energy and shines so bright.
Her features so vivid
A person so trustworthy and committed
She embodies qualities that make her so addictive
Yet he still chooses the derivative
Solely based on the prerequisite that a 3C hair curl is imperative
Being opinionated is prohibited
Because the tone of her skin already determined that she’s being argumentative
She grew up so inquisitive about the chocolate she was gifted with
She couldn’t figure out why the box was complimented with counterfeit condiments
Still...
She knew dark chocolate was good for the heart
To share this gift was a sacrifice, so she was willing to depart.
Even though it often came with this remark...
“This chocolate tastes good for it to be dark”
Couldn’t understand why her gift always seemed to miss the mark....
Her mindset began to shift,
Vigilant in the way she shared her gift
She walked down the street and refused to give into those who seemed just the slightest bit deserving of it.
Yet this too was changed into a negative narrative.
Often called derogatory adjectives just because
......“She thinks she’s to good.. she’s on high horse.. closed minded ... she needs to be more explorative”.
She can’t win
Now her skin tone is “in”
But she is not just a mere trend
and at this point
she wants to return her Melanin.
