My younger sister has two adorable but mischievous toddlers. When we talk on the phone I often laugh at their antics, and sometimes at my sister's exasperation, though I always remind her that one day she'll be able to laugh at me over the same things. Currently, her youngest is potty-training. I've heard lots of funny things over the past few years, but this conversation certainly lead to the funniest piece of advice I've ever gotten from her:
Sister: (to toddler) "No! Don't pee there!"
Me: *laughing* "Sorry! That's still something I don't think I'll ever get used to hearing!"
Sister: "Yeah, well..."
Me: "Don't worry, one day you'll be able to make fun of me for the same thing."
Sister: "The only piece of advice I can give you is to not have carpet when your kids are potty training."
Me: "Oh. My. Gosh."
We laughed together for a while... Until her oldest "couldn't find the table" that he was literally sitting at and started to cry...
Sister: (to toddler) "Look at your toys. Where are they? No, where are the toys that you're playing with right now? They're ON the table. Ok? You see? They're sitting on the table. The table's right in front of you."
Me: *laughing again*
