You’re an animal

Listening for words that you can comprehend

That you can understand and react to.

You stand waiting, staring, for the sounds that give you a will

A friend that cares but only when the common vocabulary is used

You are normal but unresponsive

You sit, you lie down and you sleep waiting for your next word

But when a word is said to you that you don’t understand you pause

You wait

You wonder what am I saying.

Waiting to hear the words you want to hear

Waiting for your next bit of excitement your next treat.

But the words I’m saying aren’t treats

Aren’t words you know

Cause how can you Understand when you don’t know my vocabulary
