So my friend is having a problem with his parents and I decided to try and help. I asked a question on Quora:
“ What can I do about my parents threatening to take my phone because of my grades if my phone isn’t the problem?”
I got 10 answers.
Everyone told me that the phone was the problem DESPITE THE FACT THAT I SAID IT WASNT.
I know my friend’s phone is not the problem because he only has bad grades in ONE class. He tells me he just can’t seem to understand it. Like I go through the same exact thing with one of my classes. I’ve always needed extra help in math.
The part that I despise about my friend’s parents is they just won’t listen. I think part of the problem is the way my friend explains himself; instead of saying “please don’t take my phone, it’s not the problem” and then explains why, he says “please don’t take it, I need it to talk to my friends”.
Do you think it’d be wrong for me to send a letter to his parents explaining why they shouldn’t take his phone and should look into why he’s struggling in that class? Would I come off as condescending??? I don’t want to make things worse for my friend but he doesn’t seem to be making a very good argument and I know if he gets his phone taken, he’ll resent his parents.
