I’m an undergraduate student, currently in my final year studying at one of the prestigious universities in the UK. I’m planning to take the year off, just because I’m too overwhelmed by the transition to this fully online teaching approach. Being in a top uni alone is already tough enough, what more having to keep up with all other smart peers in my class. I get severe studying anxiety, I miss being able to attend face to face teachings like I used to pre-Covid. Also, I think I needed this gap year to give me some time to re-think my combination of subjects as I’m not entirely enthusiastic about my current choice of subjects. Opting for a gap year means I will be graduating a year later than my friends. Also a gap year will incur some financial burden to my family, but my parents are both being supportive of my decision and are willing to accommodate to this as long as my mental health is being well taken care of.
I’m taking a road less travelled, but I’m not entirely sure if it’s the right path for me.
Would appreciate some reassurance xx

Just about to graduated from undergrad here. IMO YES do it you're good. Overall, it's YOUR degree, and you do it by your own plan, and it's YOUR mental health on the line. You do what you have to. A year is actually not that much. You take you time to plan for your future because IT. IS. YOURS. And you're being productive so you're being efficient. Your friends will support you and still be your friends, you can contact them, invite them places. Good luck to you!
