There are more Americans fom Latin America than from Anglo America, but United Statians insist to call themselves "The Americans". The comparison gets worst when excluding the United States from Anglo America. When will United Statians start to respect their neighbors? It is actually the opposite. They have been incrementing such usage with their international media and the big mouth of offending politicians during the last years. Stop the bullying, stop bringing excuses and start respecting please.

ReplyIf you want to call yourself an American then you are welcome to do so. And if you want to call people from the US United Statians you are welcome to do so as well.
But don't try to shame other people into changing how they speak for your own agenda, that's just bullying. From "The Americans"
ReplyNon-white here: it is very petty to bash the use of "America" to refer to U.S.A, and to bash the use of the word "American" to refer to someone whose nationality is U.S.A. It was named "United States of America" in the Declaration of Independence in 1776... and every other nation on the western hemisphere named their nation officially at some point in time also.
Colombians, Mexicans, Costa Ricans, etc., please stop being so petty. Who cares if you live on a continent that has the word "America" in it OR who cares if at some point the entire landmass was called "America" (that's history - stop living in the past).
Courtesy notice: the following includes a reference to a book that contains writings over 2000 years old which are mostly parables about human nature, both vile human nature as well as moral human nature, parables that are meant to teach us to learn and grow. No religion required, and better yet: no public displays of devotion required. Some bullies will label this "trolling", so "change the channel" now if of no interest to you.

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
