I'm an "A," college student and I hate the pressure of keeping it up, but also know I'll hate myself if I let myself fail. I'm crying from stress, wondering why we live in a world where it is normal to assign a disturbing amount of work towards the end of the year. Who thought it was a good idea to throw a bazillion things at once at students by the end of the already stressful year? Why does it have to be this way, when most students would probably be doing better in life and studies if they were less stressed? Wouldn't we think better, remember more, and have better functioning bodies? Right? I know that stress is debilitating sometimes. Right now I am so uninspired to work because of stress, but I know I have to, so I will anyways. But, I have chronic stress, and chronic digestive problems (not caused by stress, but stress adds to the pain) and it is so difficult to function through school. The end of the semester is just horrible and I wish it didn't exist in the way it does. I just wish the work flow could stay more normal until the end. :/ But, I must do what I must do.

Obstacles
Obstacles are meant to overcome. Seldom placed to bar your subsequent sun. Oracles are myths to some and for those people kingdoms are laced with rivers of rum....

found out something I wish I didn't
My boyfriend and I have been together for a little over a year. He is my first love. When we first got together, he had a difficult time trusting me due to thin...
Hi there, I think I know what you're going through because I also went to a very high stress competitive college. The attrition rate was close to 40% and I remember on day one at orientation they said "Look at the person to your left, look at the person to your right, and one of them will not graduate." WTF right? Pleased to meet you too. So I agree, I never understood why these institutions seem to take pride in beating students into failure.
But here's the bright spot. In the real world, nobody cares about your grades as much as you think. Within 2 years I fell from a 3.5 GPA to 2.1 and I barely passed by sheer luck or pity from my professors. And guess what, when I started interviewing for jobs NOBODY asked my GPA. They just asked where I graduated and seemed to be impressed by that. That plus being able to act professional & hard working in the interview was all they cared about.
In other words: I'd say 3/4 of the stress you're feeling right now is meaningless. I know that's hard to believe, or even if you believe it I know it's hard to accept it emotionally. Stress is stress. But try to remind yourself that academic stress is very exaggerated. It's one of the few stresses that goes away and never comes back. Just get that piece of paper saying you graduated and all the sweat that went into it will vanish.
ReplySounds like me kinda, but I'm in seventh grade. I missed an assignment yesterday, and they freaked out cos they were like, "OMG YOU'RE NOT GONNA HAVE ALL As ANYMORE." It's fun to play games, but it also takes me into a place where no one can really judge you because they don't know you. You can be whoever you wanna be whenever. (or not whenever if you have no time in college idk) At least for a while, you can be somewhere away from all the stress. Unless you literally have to work and learn all day long. Then I feel bad for you. And everyone else like you. And my future self if I ever get into a college.
ReplyYou are so nice awww. Sometimes I play games too, when I have time. I agree that it is a great escape. It's kinda sad we have to use games to escape reality, but I suppose many are worse off. I just threw a fit on here because I'm emotional about how many assignments I must do, and I haven't been feeling great either. Education is good, I just sometimes think certain things about the education system could be different. Thank you so much for your supportive comment. :)
Replyi feel this hard lol. I'm legit so scared for college bc of how I can barely handle a high school workload and I also used to be a straight A student. I know it sounds super cliche but honestly you are so much more as a person than your gpa or your illness, despite what the educational system tells us. If you really need to do work make sure to do a little at a time and take a few good breaks in between parts of assignments.
ReplySurely there is a Minister for education in your government, and if there is write to this person and say all of what is in your post. At least try to do something about it.
