Would anyone wanna learn about ADHD, Anxiety, Anger Issues, Depression, Medication, or Therapy. and like how to interact and talk with people who have these problems? I would really enjoy educating people on my life and my different brain! I'm an open book and not easily offended at all, well unless you tell me my problems aren't real or that I'm the r slur.

It's not easy
I love this one gentleman and we've known each other for almost seven years. This coming January would be the fifth year of me loving him, ofc he never knew it....
I would. how do I find you
Replywe can talk right here! Ask me anything! I'm an open book and super hard to offend. Just don't tell me my problems aren't real or call me stupid or the r slur.
ReplyWhat mantra or strategy helps you slow down when you are rushing through things? My friend will forget things like shutting the door etc and I think it is bc his brain works differently than mine.
Replygood question! Just prefacing not everyone with ADHD thinks the same. Just because we all have ADHD doesn't mean our brains work the exact same. Some things work better for others. In my experience, I tend to use a 5-4-3-2-1 breathing exercise on the daily because I can use it for my ADHD, Anxiety, and Anger Issues. Basically when I feel like my thoughts are racing or I'm rushing and I can't get a grip, I think to myself what are 5 things I can see right now? and I say them in my head then what are 4 things I can touch right now? and I touch them, then what are 3 things I can hear right now? I listen to those sounds for a minute then what are 2 things I can smell? I think about those smells for a minute and then depending on the situation I'll either do what's one reason you know this feeling won't last forever? or what's one thing you can taste. and by the time I've gone through all of that I've mostly calmed down.
ReplyAlso if I have a set of instructions to do or multiple things that need to be done, I write them in my phone or I run through the list in my head on repeat.
ReplyThank you! That is really helpful and great to ground yourself.
I know you don’t speak for everyone and appreciate your transparency for what can work for you!
ReplyThank you! and I think grounding works for everyone! I used to have terrible night terrors, like so bad, and if I woke up in the middle of the night I'd use that technique to ground myself. Any other questions? I'm willing to talk about anything!
ReplyHi. How exactly is your anxiety / depression treated? Meds breathing therapy etc?
ReplyI go to therapy once a month and have been going for almost 2 years. My medication that I'm on is specifically for my ADHD but since my ADHD causes me stress, it helps with my anxiety too.
ReplyHi this is random but do you have a breathing for if you have a panic attack, I've had a couple and I'm not sure how to deal with them
ReplyI use the one above a lot but I also use this one: You take a big deep breath, hold it, and when you exhale you say a word, ones that work for me are calm or safe. So as I exhale I say one of those words aloud and focus on it, then when I inhale, I imagine my inhale washing over me like a gentle wave. When I exhale I imagine all of my negative thoughts and feelings being pushed out of and away from me. If I get distracted AT ALL, I focus on the words. For me, lying on the ground works really well because I can acknoledge the fact that I'm safe by realizing that my entire body is touching the ground. or there's the 4-7-8 exercise, you inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 7, and exhale for 8, when I'm doing this one I like to count the numbers in my head and focus on that. Please know that everyone is different. What works for me may not work for you, you just have to find what works best!
ReplyThank you
ReplyHow do you know if a therapist is a good fit for you?
ReplyWith my therapist, I just knew! I think what I really liked about her was she would tell me what I needed to hear, not what I wanted. She doesn't sugarcoat things. That's what I need. I need someone to be straightforward. It really depends on your personality and what you need. The number one thing was she never pitied me or judged me or invalidated my feelings.
Replythanks!
