I have come to the conclusion that I have severe intrusive thoughts. Let me explain, my brain will give me a horrible thought that I would never want or normally think about and the more that I push away the thought/ thoughts, the worse it gets. I have to physically tell myself to stop as if I'm in control. Nothing seems to help, and major life events just make it worse. What can I do to stop them?

Ghosting (a question for everyone)
I have a question for you all. Have you ever ghosted someone before? If so, what was the reason? I'm very curious as to why people do this because I've always b...

u can not. you are stressed. and your thoughts are taking over. loosen up
ReplyAh crap, that really sucks, I'm sorry. If someone I knew in my life told me that, I think I'd call around to some therapists and relay exactly that, and see what they said... and then when I found someone who seemed both wise and kind, I'd try to connect them. I have a few guesses about what might be going on, but not the training to know, or know how to stop the thoughts. Just that it's good you're asking, and that there are people and strategies that can help. Is there someone in your life you feel comfortable enough sharing this with, to help you with next steps? Good luck.
ReplyI have this on a recurring basis. I know how you feel.
ReplyThat’s obsessive thoughts. Medication and therapy can help. I get them too when I’m under stress. I have had to work really hard at adapting to stress and medication helps a lot. Therapy taught me to accept the thoughts and to allow them to exist but know that they are obsessive compulsive thoughts that will pass.
ReplyThoughts come and go with most being uninvited. They require the energy from your attention to linger. They can't be forced from your mind. Your most troublesome thoughts need to be observed without emotion or judgment. You can pose some questions about them like 'I wonder where this one came from?' or 'how might this be helpful?' You can do this in short period of meditation or contemplation - 10 minutes or so. Dedicating some time to slow down the noise and chatter everyday can be helpful. After a while of doing this regularly, you will be able to calm things down as you move around. Your mind is probably your most useful tool but it needs to be managed. Only helpful thoughts deserve your attention. the others should be allowed to quietly dissolve back into the void. You will be OK.
ReplyI really wish I could help. This happens to me as well :/
