College and depression

I’m a junior in high school that just recently was given a career and college presentation. Everything about it made me question if I’m really mentally stable enough to go into a the curriculum that is required to become a lawyer. Not gonna lie it’s never been something I was that excited about, but my parents have pushed it every since I expressed interest so now here I am, one SAT away from signing my life away.

The thing is my depression has taken away almost all my motivation, I barely can do the things I’m super passionate and hyper fixated on with the same enthusiasm as before. I’m afraid of becoming a disappointment to them and myself.

Same here, I was a really smart child, ever since I got into high school, my interest in school just kept declining and declining, and not so surprisingly, is still declining to this day. I'm also a junior right now.

Best advice I can offer is DO NOT PURSUE A CAREER AS A LAWYER, if you are not passionate about it, that really is enough said. Don't put in so much work for something you don't care about. Life is full of opportunities, what's turning down just this one?

In regard to your parents, it is your life not theirs, their disappointment is not warranted, and there is a difference between encouraging your child to pursue their talent, and trying to force a career on them.

Right now, the most important thing is battling your depression, and when you overcome (which i know you will) that will be the biggest achievement, much more impressive than becoming a lawyer.

I’m a junior to! I’m stressed about college and all that shazammm but we still got time to choose what we want to pursue for the rest of our lives so take your time thinking bout it. Also doesn’t school suck? Anyway your mental health should be your priority because your going forgot about a bad grade but your mental health is what’s going to stick with you for your whole life. Just saying!!!!
