This is a very common misunderstanding. Catholics are Christian. The great divide goes back to the protestant reformation when racists from the more Anglo European nations could not fathom the idea of bowing down to Rome, seat of the Catholic church. Since then, Protestants and all flavors of Christianity try to demonize Catholics. Nothing divides like religion. But yes, Catholics are indeed very much Christians. And Catholics do not pray to saints. It is Catholic religious practice to ask saints for their intercession, to ask saints to pray for us. It is just a religious practice, but similar to the practice where Evangelicals believe they can sin all their life and in their death bed they will be forgiven for all their sins by just saying "Put it on Jesus' tab". Yet... Evangelicals strongly believe that others should pay for their sins on earth, through incarceration. The beauty of hypocrisy.
So again, Catholics follow the ministry of Christ, making them Christians.
ReplyIt's all Christianity if you believe in Christ. However praying to Mary is kind of like idolatry imo. He didn't say pray to my mother Mary. He said our father which art in heaven...Mary was a human as we are...even alive at the time of Christ.
