i am hispanic, but the principles of Buddhism are very refreshing to me, i'm drawn to these teachings. from what i have researched, Buddhism is an internationally open practice, but i'm still worried. i have no asian roots whatsoever and live in america, can i really grasp all there is to Buddhism? i know it is a dominant religion in many asian countries, and important to many asian cultures. i don't want to westernize any of that and i want to be respectful.

ReplyBuddhism has some interesting practices, but it is prejudiced against women. I'm a woman. Why would I choose to participate in something that will exclude me before I even start?
I suggest making up your own religion. Personally I take pieces of different philosophies and apply to my own religion. Last I heard, God isn't religous anyway. As long as you aren't intentionally hurting anyone, it doesn't matter what religion you are.
I mean, yeah, it would be nice to have someone to challenge your beliefs, but most people who turn to religion are really into following those rules. They dont like changing anything. Updates are few and far between and very hard won. Those people will make you crazy.
