I wonder,
If the trees envy the flowers,
For the grace in which they bloom.
Do the saplings ever worry,
That their leaves take up more room?
Do the moon and sun compete,
Contesting who better enlights the bay?
Or do they coexist as one,
With each night and day?
I must ask,
Do other beings have a goal?
A set standard to attain?
Have they ever heard the phrase,
“Beauty is worth pain?”
Perhaps this is none but human nature,
As it’s what we’ve all been taught.
Nonetheless,
I hope the trees love their leaves,
And never want what they are not.
