adult store anxiety/wonders

soooooo I’m turning 18 next week and I really want to go to a sex shop. I want nothing more for my birthday than a vibrator, tbh. I have never owned or tried one before, and I really want to.

Idk how to approach this. The idea of physically going into an adult store gives me anxiety, but I would like to go in and talk to a professional.

I want a bullet or something… I don’t wanna spend lots of money. I am a student, after all.

I told my (male) roommate about wanting a vibe, and he seemed pretty interested in the topic, which I don’t know what to make of. We discussed it a bit and looked at different types/styles online lmao. Anyway, he’s 18 and has a car, so maybe he would go with me….???? That seems awkward though. idk.

just wanted to get these thoughts out of my head lol

thanks

You don't necessarily have to go to a sex toy shop to get these, nowadays they are available at drug stores/retail stores/pharmacy stores etc. Try to go with another girl or order online if you're uncomfortable. Don't discuss these things with a guy if he is straight and might be interested in you (if you aren't interested in him). Things might get even more awkward in the future.

Hey this is probably going to be an unexpected comment, but that's ok :)

It seems to me that getting something like that is pretty lonely. It's like sex with yourself that isn't really sex. The pleasure is separated from the connection you'd have with another person.

I don't know you, but hopefully you hear out this stranger's advice. Don't go to that shop. Focus your time and energy on real love and connection with others. Whether it be spending time with friends, actively looking for a person you'd be compatible with, things like that. Happy birthday!!

You don't even have to go there. Just straight up ask at well known drug store chain I've heard you can get them there but whatever suits you

Sex shops are fun! It really gives you an insight on the variety of stuff that people are into. I get nervous going into them when I want a new toy. I'm nervous until I look over and see a gigantic, unrealistically-sized human arm shaped dildo (with optional stretching pump included!). Pffffft lolololol 😂 I'm not judging, only giggling. I COULD be the one bringing that arm up to the register but nope, it's just my little bullet vibrator. You're totally fine haha, go explore!
