So I'm on the mini contraceptive pill but I've been having a lot of pregnancy symptoms. I took a pregnancy test that came out negative but to be honest I'm not convinced. I don't have periods on the the contraceptive I'm on so I don't know what the dates of my period would be. That means I don't even know if I could have done the pregnancy test too early.
I've been having very sensitive and painful breast, particularly the left one that's hurting constantly and is also swollen. I don't normally have much breast pain. I've also been feeling sick about the same time every day. I've started going off of certain foods including drinking tea, I've also had a week stomach when normally nothing turns me sick. But I've also been hungry all the time and eating more than usual which is strange for me since I usually have issues with getting full easily.
I'm not really sure what to do. Do I take another pregnancy test? Do I go to the doctor? Do I stop taking the contraceptive incase I am pregnant? Is there anything else that could be causing these changes? Please can I get someone else's thoughts on what I should do?

You're doctor could probably help you more than anything to get answers so you should definitely see one imo.
ReplyTaking the contraceptive pill mimics pregnancy by elevating progesterone in the body. Progesterone is the hormone responsible for pregnancy. The only reason females have progesterone is for getting and maintaining pregnancy. It's the pregnancy hormone, that's all. Oestrogen is for all the the other stuff. That's why if a menopausal female still has a womb, and she takes HRT, she must take HRT which includes oestrogen AND progesterone as progesterone protects the lining of the uterus. If a female is without a womb and on HRT, she only needs to take HRT with oestrogen. Please do some research. Menopause Taylor on YouTube, a gynaecologist, explains EVERYTHING to do with female hormones, pregnancy, HRT, menopause. There's hundreds of videos but you will gain a complete understanding of the female body. The site is not just about Menopause but everything pertaining to female health. https://www.youtube.com/c/MenopauseTaylor/videos?view=0&sort=da&flow=grid
ReplyI've been taking the contraceptive for almost 5 years and these symptoms are new.... so I know the symptoms aren't from my contraceptive
ReplyOh also I'm already aware of the female body, I'm a nursing student and have done research on it. I also studied health and social care and learnt all about contraception and pregnancy. I've done academic research into papers on the topic so your YouTube link is less reliable than the research I've already conducted.
ReplyThe pill tricks the female body into thinking its pregnant. It's to do with the progesterone hormone which is the hormone responsible for pregnancy.
ReplyAs you'll see above not my pill is not the cause
ReplyHigh levels of oestrogen in the pill can cause changes in the breast tissue. Oestrogen makes breast tissue more dense and harder to detect for lumps or cysts. Breast cancer is something to watch out for when taking oestrogens. Get a mammogram.
