There is a college club team that I really want to make, but they are very selective and I want to improve my chances. I have heard that they are looking for people who are athletic and "fit well with the team." I am super athletic, so I'm not worried about the physical tryouts. What I am worried about is the interview process. You aren't guaranteed an interview, and they tend to pick people who have some connection with guys on the team. In my dorm, there's a guy on the team, and I believe that when tryouts happen next year, he can vouch for me. However, I don't want it to come off like I just want to get a connection to make the team. I am genuinely interested in the team and want to know more about what they do. I just don't want to get stiffed at the interview because some guys is already buddies with the guys on the team. This is something I really want, and I want to make sure I am in the best position to be selected. So what should I do? How can I make a connection with this team that doesn't come off as a selfish way to make it?
