The “let’s just kiss to see what it’s like,” followed by the characters pulling away, lingering, and then going in for the second kiss

Beating up the guy who broke your best friend’s heart at prom, then ditching prom together, instead spending the night exploring the city. As you drive your best friend back home, you follow her to your porch, and there’s a sense of a potential kiss lingering in the air (but it never happens)

Making up any excuse to spend time together, even the most ridiculous of then, like, “I don’t need a new lightbulb in my kitchen, I changed it last week!” “I know but let me just make sure”

We never had a chance but now you’re back in town after three years and all those unresolved feelings comes rushing back to the surface

Being jealous, or in denial, totally denying any of it to be the truth but everyone knows you’re full of shit

When you start ignoring or avoiding your best friend, you don’t mean to but you’re always making up excuses to not go see each other, all because you’re trying to stop yourself from falling even harder, which soon enough leads to an angry confrontation and a love confession

Eye-contact is a thing of the past when feelings starts to unravel, because looking at each other either hurts or sets your soul on fire (or both)

Friends and family notices you’ve started acting weird around each other, but you both refuse to talk about what’s causing it

Being each other’s “platonic” dates to a friend’s wedding but during the ceremony you steal glances from each other

There was only one bed — next morning you wake up entangled in each other, quickly excusing yourself from the room to avoid this awkward situation

Alternatively — you try to move away, but your best friend wraps their hands around you, snuggling even closer to you, so you decide to go in for the cuddle

Everyone thinks you’re dating because you’re acting like a couple

Sharing clothes even when you’re not dating, you’re just that comfortable with each other *cough*

Blurting your feelings out in the open on complete accident

“I’ll kiss you right now to prove I don’t feel anything for you” but the kiss brings forward unresolved feelings, and as you pull back, eyes still closed, there’s this urge to dive in for a second kiss

The mutual respect for each other/always protecting each other

Knowing each other inside out, everything from their favorite song, to what they named their favorite stuffed animal in second grade (and in which box it’s since been put in)

Doing whatever you can to make each other happy, and bring out a smile on each other’s faces

Trying to hide your true feelings as to not ruin the friendship, even going as far as avoiding each other, but somehow always ending up sharing an intimate, romantic moment

The first kiss, and the realization of “It’s always been you”

Starting to see each other in a different light

Contemplating your best friend in such a way and with details that really only someone who’s in love with the person would notice

Holding hands for the first time, blushing and sharing a laugh over finally being able to do these type of small gestures

The first official “date” which isn’t really a date but it feels like one

Showing up at each other’s house late at night

Your best friend goes missing after having gotten upset over something, you’re the only one who knows where to find them (which is at the location you always used to hang out at as children)

When one is dropping hints both about their feelings and desire to kiss their best friend and the other one is completely oblivious to it

You refuse to admit your feelings to your best friend and when someone asks what you are in relation to each other, your best friend says we’re nothing but good friends and you’re like i want to die rn :)

Spending time with each other’s family, family constantly pointing out how good you would be together because you’re just that compatible
