My trans friend could be kicked out and I need help knowing what to do

My trans friend came out to his little brother last night. His brother tells his homophobic mom EVERYTHING and started threatening that he would out my friend. My friend approached me today and told me all this and that he suspects he will either be kicked out or his parents will be toxic until he has to leave. He asked if he could come stay with me if that happens and I said yes. My family is really cool with LGBTQIA+ people and they have accepted me in the past.
My mom and his mom are good friends and I've talked with my mom about this situation before. She seems to think that his mom isn't that homophobic, just uninformed, but my friend says she's made rude comments about trans people, told him not to wear pride pins, said negative things when I cut my hair because it "made me look too masculine" (jokes on her, I'm also a closeted trans person 😉), and doesn't let him watch shows with queer characters.
I'm worried for my friend and I want to do everything I can to help. I'm only fifteen so I don't have a lot of options. What can I do for my friend besides support him and give him a place to go if he needs it? Is there anything else I should be aware of?

Omg I read the title and was about to comment that you should offer your place if you can! That's very sweet of you and I'm glad your family is supportive. I think you should bring up the possibility of your friend being kicked out to your mom and see what she says. Is she good with him staying over alot? Maybe he could hang out at your house more often even if he's not kicked out. Wishing you both all the best. I hope your friend gets into a better situation.
ReplyThank you! That's a great idea! Inviting him over more would be a good way to give him a break from his mom!
