When the pandemic started I was 13 and a half, and ever since it started i've just gotten so much acne. Before the pandemic my skin was smooth and I never broke out. I would just wash my face and that was it. But ever since it began, my skin has broken out so much. I have a bunch of blackheads on my nose and cheeks, and little tiny bumps on my forehead and about 5 around my like cheeks. I was able to control the forehead bumps with like an ointment but now I have a bit left still. But the main problem is that I have a bunch of blackheads on like the area next to my nose. Idk if it's age that caused this or like a change in diet, or maybe even not getting sunlight. I;ve tried cerave but it hasn't done anything, as well as the ordinary but they're still there. Are there any things I should be doing or products to use to help calm down this acne thing and like remove it?

ReplyI don’t know what you've tried so I’m just going to say what I do. I lightly wash my face with warm water and soap (Don’t use hot water!!!!) when I wake up and go to bed. I don’t do it too much or too hard because it will irritate and redden my skin. In the summer sometimes I’ll do it three times a day. In between soap and water washes, if I feel my face is a bit too sweaty and oily, I’ll rinse it with warm water, no soap. Cold weather flares up my acne because the cold temperatures close up my pores. So if I come in from the cold, I’ll right away rinse my face with warm water (no soap usually) to open up my pores. I make sure I use a little skin lotion after I wash or rinse my face in the winter because if I don’t my skin will get dry and that could cause irritation and acne….but not too much lotion because the lotion too could clog your pores. I used to get very deeply rooted acne on my nose that would balloon up big and red. I think it’s because I have very big pores on my nose that get clogged easily. Once every 2/3 weeks, I wash my face and hands with warm water and soap and slightly and GENTLY PUSH DOWN and on the skin of my nose (AVOID SQUEEZING because this will make your skin red). You can use a comedone tool. This pushes out some of the dirt and oils and lotion that have built up in those pores. But I don’t do it all the time because the skin needs some of those oils and will produce more if it is lacking which again could lead to more acne. If you do get deep red acne, wait for the stuck oil and dirt to come to the surface of the pimple before even considering popping it. You should see the oil and dirt come to the surface in the form of a white dot on your pimple. Try to wait until the white spot gets as big as it can or wait until it naturally bursts and goes away. Popping it can lead to scarring (that usually goes away after time but sometimes it doesn’t) so you gotta be gentle and careful if you do it. Sometimes when you pop it not all the oil and dirt comes out so you might have to wait again for all of the dirt and oil to come to the surface. Warm water rinses will bring the oil and junk to the surface faster but again be careful not to do it too many times or it will irritate your skin. I wet a towel with warm water and place it over the pimple to try to get the oil and dirt to come to the surface faster. (Don’t use hot water!!!!) All in all it’s a juggling act of keeping your pores open and clean while still keeping some of the natural oils in your skin. But like the other person said, it’s a part of peoples lives young or old. In most cases though, it gets better when you get older. And if you feel really sensitive about a particular pimple put a bandaid over it or a cut piece of a bandaid over it that blends in with your skin(if you can find one). I’ve written too much. I feel stupid. I hope this was useful.
ReplyI'm glad that you are conscious about your skin when breakouts just started. My skin was so smooth and soft at the age of 12. People used to squeeze my cheeks all the time. And then when I turned 13 it began. Pimples on my cheeks, forehead, blackheads, whiteheads and all such things. At that time I was not at all aware about skin conditions cuz in my country people were not beauty conscious back then. Therefore it never bothered me. As I reached the age of 16, acne worsened and people around me started pointing it out. That's when I became conscious about it. I started worrying and crying day and night and idek the amount of money spent for treating my skin. Nothing worked. And then I turned 18 and went to an aesthetician and I was put on accutane. Finally in the age of 20 I got back my smooth skin. Not like before but still a lot better. So from my experience I'll ask you to get a salicylic acid based facewash for blackheads and white heads. The one that I used is Saslic ds foaming facewash. Idk if that's available in your country but if it is, you should get it and use it only once a day. Preferably in the morning. And once the bottle finishes don't buy it repeatedly. It might not be good to use it forever. I think after a bottle you'll be all good with blackheads and whiteheads. Later you can continue using cerave.
For acne get the "CLINDAMYCIN PHOSPHATE AND ADAPALENE" gel. Don't buy it separately, i mean CLINDAMYCIN PHOSPATE and ADAPALENE are available as separate gels. Get the one that contains both of this together.
And don't worry. Since it's just the beginning if you try to control it it won't get worse.
