A couple months ago I began weightlifting not the heavier weights but a decent amount. Recently I have begun seeing stretchmarks on my body Idk if this is caused by new muscle mass and I am worried. I have them around my thighs, calves, and arms and biceps. It it not from weight loss but it might me from weight gain. Is there something I'm doing wrong or is this normal?

Stretch marks occur when the tissue under the skin enlarges, either too quickly for the skin to accommodate the growth or when the skin does not have enough elasticity to stretch over the larger mass, this applies to an increase in fat, muscle, or even when someone swells up with large amounts of fluid. The best way to reduce the chances of this is to ensure your skin is elastic enough for the growth. Pregnant women that want to avoid getting stretch marks will often use coco butter on their skin everyday. If you do a little research I am sure there are other products and even nutritional supplements or things you might be able to eat to improve the elasticity of your skin. Stretch marks are essentially scars from tears in layers of the skin so you may also want to look into products that, and ways to, reduce the appearance of scars if the way they look bother you.
