Hey guys :D For once I'm not talking about love relationships or crushes- I made a friend with someone who I really wanted to have a friendship with!
And sorry this is really long!!! Here's the summary: I was lonely but I became friends with the twin sister of MY twin's friend. I thought she was scary, but she's actually a huge softie!
I'm 12 years old, and in my second year of middle school. I used to be shy and a big introvert with no one but my twin sister in school. But in 3rd grade, I had a bunch of new classmates after being placed in the gifted class (with my twin). Starting in 4th grade, my twin and I developed close friendships with most of the girls and boys in our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade classes. But when the pandemic happened, I unfortunately lost a lot of contact with my friends. And once middle school started, I was completely online, so not a lot of people to talk to except my sister.
I came back to school in-person last September, and a lot of my old friends moved or went to different schools. The people I did know became more distanced from me, cuz I regained my old, shy personality.
But on the first day of seventh grade, when I came home, my sister told the family that this girl, Leah, from her Band last year, saw my twin and told my sister she was so pretty.
They ended up being friends in a week or two, and I didn't have any. Actually, there was this one girl who was lonely and didn't seem to have any friends in my PE class, so we became friends, but she changed her hair and wore makeup, so she became popular and kinda ditched me. We still talk a little, but she doesn't say hi to me in front of her friends.
And I found out Leah, who is INSANELY angelic (she doesn't curse, she always says sorry, she thinks literally everyone is pretty, and she's so short and cute!!!), has a twin sister named Layla who just happened to be in my online Orchestra and PE class last year. Tbh, I thought Layla looked a little intimidating. She never smiled on Zoom meetings and was pretty good looking. She had that snow queen look.
So when my twin was telling me who Leah's twin was, I was like "OMG I know her! But she seems kinda scary on Zoom..."
Then, MY TWIN TOLD LEAH I SAID THAT. I was mortified, and my conscience was only more stabbed when my sister told me that Leah told her that Layla had said, "Oh, *my name*'s such a cutie!" when Leah asked about me.
I was like, oh, maybe she's not so bad after all... Also pls kill me like how could I think such bad things about such a nice girl... TvT
So I found out Leah is in not only my Orchestra class this year, but she has the same PE period as me! Different teachers, though. So sometimes, we walk on the track. And once, I was walking (alone *sad noises*) and I just found myself walking next to Layla. It was very awkward. Neither of us said anything for 20 minutes. I wanted to say something but I was afraid she didn't want to talk to me. I didn't know she was shy back then, so I didn't say anything when she didn't.
My twin and Leah do google meets on their computers everyday at night or noon, so once my sister told me to come to play the violin because Layla was there. I was kind of nervous and excited, and I realized I wanted to be friends with her.
She wasn't very shy on the screen. She ate cheetos, laughed this deep "HAHAHA" (I love her voice so much omg the deep charm!!!) and strolled around in her lounge clothes.
A few days later, we walked on the track again, and this time I said hi to her first, and we talked A LOT! I'm so glad I made the first move, otherwise we may never have been friends.
In Orchestra, we played Bingo on Friday, so she and me paired up and we became a lot closer. We joined the Orchestra club (sat next to each other) and talked a lot to each other in the Orchestra concert backstage. We talked to each other on the way to the Gym from Orchestra everyday. And the day before winter break, we gave each other presents omg it was SO SWEET!!! She gave me a mini violin Christmas tree ornament, and I made her a pom-pom ornament with googly eyes and a glittery bow cuz I know she loves glitter and cute girly things. We hugged each other and watched the movie in Orchestra together while eating cookies! (I also gave Layla and Leah assorted candy and chocolates in a goodie bag that were Christmas themed >u<)
During winter break, we invited Leah and Layla over to our house and had a BLAST!!! My mom and I made waffles, and the twins said they felt like they were being treated like queens cuz my sister and I kept serving them and asking if they needed anything :)
(There were strawberries, raspberries, chicken nuggets, and sausages!!!)
We played Hide-and-Seek, played our instruments, and hung out in our rooms.
Then the next day, we ice skated together for 3 hours! My sister and I took lessons before, but even though Leah and Layla hadn't (and this was their third time skating), there were still good! Layla and I held hands the whole time and we occasionally made a long line with Leah and my sister.
Today, Layla and I talked to each other on the way to the gym. We're such good friends now. I'm very proud of myself for being able to make a good friend!
