I feel a bit sick today, so I've decided to stay from school just in case it's COVID. I'll take a test as soon as possible. I know it's the right thing to do, but I feel super guilty about it. I've probably taken five sick days in the last nine years, and my standard for not going to school is being so sick that I can't walk/stand. I know times have changed, but it's still drilled into me that I should study unless I can't comprehend what I'm reading. I never get a doctor's opinion because in my country it's like at least $40 out of pocket to get an appointment. So I'm usually left to decide what to do for myself and I feel bad when I didn't choose working over rest.
How do I combat this guilt and remind myself that it's reasonable to take a break when sick?

Hi~ I also feel guilty when taking sick days off. Just remember that going to school while you don't feel well is doing more harm than good. You need rest to be able to do school work properly so your day off is necessary. You don't want to overwork yourself. Try to rest mentally as well, aka, try not to worry about anything (like missing a day or whatever else). Hope you feel better, take care <33
