Force them to use their capacity to create and achieve something that they hate. For example, force painters to use their layout awareness to make social media posts to promote products that they hate. Do this and come to me after 6 months and I'll see them turning into a fucking goblin who consumes nothing but coffee and cigarettes.
Don't torture artists; some of them might survive and change their artistic identity into a damn visual tool for corporates, but that's pathetic and such a loss of creative value. Artists' job (whether it's a musician, designer, painter, animator, etc) is to go to the territory beyond average comprehension in the paradoxical order of exploration, not merely imagining visuals and tones in their brain as most people think. And they would translate the things that they found there into a sort of result that can be articulated by the people, which then being valued by those people. So when you force an artist to do this process to achieve something that is against their values, you might get the success that you wanted but their existential suffering will be inevitable. I promise it.
— If it's too complex to understand, let's put it this way. Think of your skill, and imagine you're using that to work for your ex and you're being paid monthly by the ex's new partner. And you're forced to smile in front of them, and you'll be asked every 3 months for a report of historical achievements, forecasts, and plans. And you can't get out because you need the money. Now that's suffering, that's hell. :D

Sadly most of us have no choice but work doing something we hate.
I envy whoever gets to actually do what they love, all the time
ReplyLots of people do jobs they love. I wouldn’t love doing the things they do though.
