Hi there, I need advice. My mom has kept me away from screens when I was a young child for a long time, but a year or so ago I got a computer. And my online life started. I got games, watched YouTubers play that game with their friends and clubs (clubs are like a groups of people and friends and they play the game together), but all the club's used Discord.
So of course I got it, and because my mom didn't like me having screen time, I didn't tell her. And now it's been almost a year of using Discord and I hate to say it, talking with online friends. Yes I've heard their voice and they are not old men, and yes they have never ever done anything weird, and we use nicknames and are very careful online (my nickname is Star).
Recently, we had a good chat and made a deal, I go outside for 20+ minutes and I can go online for however much time I want (this we made about a week ago). But I still haven't told her about my online life on Discord, I haven't told her about "Star." And I have literally no idea how she's going to react. She is very clear she doesn't want me to have social media like Snapchat (which I don't really want anyway, although I do want Instagram). So yeah, I'm worried. How do I ask her? How do I pick up clues on how she's going to react to tell her? The longer this goes on I think it's worse...
And finally, I'm going to get a phone soon, it's going to arrive in less then a few days. So of course, I want to get Discord on my phone. But, she is putting a ton of parent controls on it so I will only be able to have iMessage, and Apple Music (I have to do a lot of convincing to get a music app lol). She wants it to be a phone and not a mobile computer, and technically Discord is a chatting app. But again then I would have to tell her about it and how am I going to do that?
Thank you literally so much if you actually read this whole thing, comment below your suggestions. Have a wonderful day, and remember you're beautiful, and if anyone says otherwise, they are just jealous (that is a fact)!
