Is it better to speak or to die?
Is so plainly obviously a trick question merely wrapped in a silver lining, for dying is inevitable. So faced with a certain death would the answer to the question at hand still to stay silent?
To speak is to lay yourself bare with no comforts or refuge left to be witnessed, judged by those who’s brains don’t meet the same complexities. To be both heroic and daring is a blessing and curse, those who survive in a modern world get blessed and idolised by the highest of stakes yet those who fall get left out at sea, trapped under the current that strain you until your last breath.
So ‘is it better to speak or to die’ is just the romanticised, idolised more poetic way to say is it better to so freely express your opinion and be so ruthlessly demoralised or live a life in ponder on what could have been if one simply had the courage to do so.

Thanks for this post, I really needed it today.
You’re right, when we speak (and act) we are taking a huge risk. Success makes you a hero, failure makes you an outcast.
But I think remains silent is the worst hell, because we end up punishing ourselves. Because silence is basically failure, and we know it even if nobody else does.
ReplyMaybe don’t worry about what others think. It’s got to be hard when your every move is about how pleasing or not pleasing you are being to the person next to you.
