You know people enter relationships typically respecting other people's views. Relationships can be platonic, romantic, nuclear whatever. Sooo, sounds like you need new parents.

Many people confuse religion with faith, including people who are in their parenting years.

Religion is just a practice to express faith, nothing more. It's like art or music - just an expression.

I suspect your parents want you to have faith, since by the age of being a parent, we have experience how fast life goes by, how evil people can be when they fall to greed, lust, wrath, etc., how mysterious life is in that we can't buy or sell love, time, faith - yet these elements have such a profound impact on our everyday life. Perhaps tell your parents your faith in the word of Christ Jesus is strong, but that throughout your life you will explore other forms of expressing this faith and that you will always appreciate the practice of the religion they taught you.

Courtesy notice: the following includes a reference to a book that contains writings over 2000 years old which are mostly parables about human nature, both vile human nature as well as moral human nature, parables that are meant to teach us to learn and grow, including the teachings of Christ Jesus. No religion required, and better yet: no public displays of devotion required, although the former and latter are admirable if practiced freely out of one's own free will and without the threat of being beheaded. Some bullies will label this "trolling", so "change the channel" now if of no interest to you.

    1 Thessalonians 5:11

Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

    Mark 12:28-31

And Christ Jesus said the 2 greatest commandments are:

    Love God first and foremost.

Love your fellow-being as you love yourself.

From following or not following these, all good or evil cascades, respectively.

I care that you are being disrespected and that your parents don’t know how to support you not practicing their faith.

yeah, it can kind of suck. i'm a baptist and i'm sort of wavering with my faith. everyone at my church shelters their children so much that they become complete a-holes. they all eat so much in the name of "fellowship" that it affects their health. i told some people last week in youth group that i had begun modeling lessons after years of asking, and i was super excited. none of them were happy for me, they told me that the modeling industry only cares about the body and not the spirit and that i needed to be careful before i was hooking up and drinking every night. one girl told a story about her cousin who came out as a transgender man. the girl constantly misgendered her cousin, and talked about how to "lovingly distance" yourself from homosexuals. this 16 year old girl who wears bermuda shorts with her swimsuits at the BEACH and has been homeschooled her whole life told me that i had a lust problem for a guy i've been talking to on snapchat. nobody is loving in the church anymore. my faith with God is still strong, but i can't stand some of the people in the church anymore.
