If you don't know what you want to do with your life and you're a high school student/college age...Just get a 2 years associates degree/certification in nursing or electrician or whatever.... And get a part time job as a cashier or waiter.. :)
Then you'll be a nurse or technician or a respiratory therapist or whatever you get a certification in within 2 years! (Or longer if you're a part-time student) paying out of pocket cheaply :)
With 0 student loans and a noble career! You'll feel satisfied in life :D
Then watch day of a life as a nurse on youtube :D
And if you want, you can be a part-time bachelor's student later on in life by the time you're in your 50s...That's your choice though
But yes. :)
Avoid student loans. Then you'll be richer than most Americans.
Try to get a part time job in a hospital setting or volunteer...if that's not possible then it's ok customer service will also work while you're studying
When you get your associates, then it's ok if you don't get a job as a nurse or something directly, you can apply to that field as something else like an assistant or whatever and work your way up :D
Or apply to a different state and if you get the job then you'll move
:D

Advice for you:
If you don't know what you want to do with your life do not waste your money & time on questionable degree decisions. There is no guarantee that you'll feel satisfied in life going into something blindly. Instead spend summer break trying out different hobbies and see which catches your attention. Think about what makes it special. Then find similar category classes in community college. Try and see if the information you learn catches your attention.
If you still want to go with this user’s route- dont do 2 years. Try to aim for certificates that you can get in few months that are in similar category. Example: Interested in RN? Try completing CNA certificate. Computer Science? Try software development certificate. Etc. These take month or two to complete and some of these you can get job from it (I.e job as CNA). I am aware it is NOT the same thing but it does have similar vibe to it. You will get better understanding of the environment/big picture of what it might be like.
ReplyIf you have any reading comprehension skills at all, you'll see that in the very first line, I said "Just get a 2 years associates degree/certification in nursing or electrician or whatever" .
It's the person's own choice whatever they wanna get whatever they're interested in. Certifications from community colleges are cheap, unlike bachelors from universities. People will like what they do and try new experiences this way. Hobbies is different from earning money. Don't waste your life doing and trying nothing in terms of this. Only by actually learning and diving into the fields people will know what they truly like.
No one is saying to close your eyes and randomly pick a field. Pick one you like and try it with small courses first, then if they really like it they can master in it later.
Duh.
ReplyAnd obviously certification courses can be less than two years or just be months programs. For things like nursing (A field most people find interesting) it obviously takes just a bit longer.
