Longing to be somewhere else
Okay, hear me outt guyss!! I really need some advice. So, I really love reading books, storiess and more. I live in a small city. Whenever I read books I feel...
I remember you saying this a while ago. You need someone to show you.
Reply"Sucking at stuff is the first step towards being sorta good at stuff" - Jake from Adventure Time. Everyone is usually pretty rubbish the first ever time they try something - it's not dumbness, it's just being inexperienced. Never be down on yourself for failing your first attempt.
I've had a Playstation for about 20 years - I had to learn how to use a PS1 controller, and get used to 3D games and memory cards... then I had to get used to PS2 Dualshock controller... then PS3 interface and all these new online features, wtf?? It soon becomes muscle memory, though.
I still can't cope with games that involve car racing, jump-scares, or having to aim and shoot quickly. I especially suck at MMORPGs because there's too much going on at once, and I can't react quickly under pressure.
I recently got a Nintendo Switch, and had to get used to the buttons being different. Then I played a different game on the PS4, and kept hitting the wrong buttons for gliding. I die all the time in Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but it's just part of the fun.
You will suck at stuff, and keep sucking at stuff, and that is OK. It's just a game.
If you find that it's been weeks and weeks, and you're still not getting to grips with the controller, or you generally struggle to learn new sequences of movement (like throwing stuff, or riding a bike), you could ask your doctor about getting tested for Dyspraxia, or some other type of neurodivergence that could affect your fine motor skills and cognitive processing.
But I suspect your dumb-ness has a lot more to do with how you are making yourself feel about normal, inconsequential mistakes.
