I sent around 700 job applications, none came back positive. Not even an interview. Even though I have 5 years experience doing Python and have contributed to libraries that I know they use, I have been told by an HR rep that she denied my application almost immediately because I do not have any experience for that job. Developing Python libraries. By the way, that same application has now been on and off at least 5 times, indicating that this HR rep has found the "perfect candidate" 5 times and either they refused the job, or they ended up letting that company down. Bunch of clowns, they are. HR reps are the enemy of humanity, it should be an elected position instead of an actual career, so those people aren't getting off on that little bit of power they have in their meaningless life.
The worst thing is when they actually do read my resume, see that I made functional HMIs for multiple companies with my university as a middleman (because it's a lot easier to get a job when you can impress professors in real time), that I wrote an actual AI for my old high school's library, and see my math presentations that they wish their management could replicate, and go "Ah, you seem like a great candidate, but we absolutely require 45 years experience in Python, I can't accept your application".
Those are the same people talking about a "labor shortage". Calling it a shortage when you can't find a Python developer with 10 years of professional experience willing to work minimum wage is like saying there's a famine because you can't find a 2€ can of premium quality caviar at your local grocery store. Either you cough up the dough or you shut the fuck up and start eating pasta boxes like everyone else.
But anyway. Out of frustration I made a bot that scours job seeking websites and automatically applies to every job matching a given word, with a pre-generated cover letter. I have sent around 500 applications as of today, and as a small nod to observant HR reps one of the experiences I added is making that bot. Now I just sit there at my computer, watching the job applications go by. If there's a very low chance I'm getting hired anyway, why should I bother taking 30 minutes for each application when I could be taking 10 seconds ?
Those cover letters are called "motivation" letters in France. Quite ironically, by arrogantly denying any candidate they deem unworthy and wanting them to "show how motivated they are" in their search for the best candidate, this great candidate now has absolutely no motivation for any particular job. Doesn't even know who they are. Doesn't even care. You shut up, possibly read my resume, probably deny it for some bullshit reason, and I move on with my life at a rate of six applications a minute. At the rate you want to pay me, your worth to me is equivalent to three cents. And I'm rounding up.

I was watching a documentary about the Meyers-Briggs personality testing one night, and it was talking about how companies basically discriminate against people who score as Introverted. If you take any of these tests during the application process and you come out introverted, they add you to a “red lined “ database (which is their lingo for black balled) that all the companies have access to; and pretty much deny you based on that alone. One guy actually committed suicide because he couldn’t find a job to support himself and had to depend on his parents to still support him in his mid-20s. His dad is currently fighting to get a law passed in his name to prevent this kind of discrimination from happening to others. Not sure if this is the case with you, just throwing in my 2 cents.
