Every step I've taken

has been in your pursuit.

Yet you elude me,

with every step I take.

You are my big foot,

Nowhere to be found,

but you leave traces for me

to constantly pursue.

I see your shadow everywhere I go.

Sometimes I can hear you,

your mocks echoing

in the depth of my soul.

Chasing you has been my life's work,

bitterness I've only reaped.

I am learning to let you go,

keep you out of my reach.

I don't need you to live,

I tell myself every day.

I am fine on my own,

I have been fine, I am okay.

Still, I see echoes of you wherever I go,

pulling and tugging at my soul.

But don't worry,

I am learning to let go.

I will be fine don't worry.

I have been fine all along.
