don't worry about the future; you can't control it. i know you've heard that a lot but it's true. set goals that are in the near future too, so you can feel like you're accomplishing things instead of basing all your success on something you're going to do years and years from now. sometimes when you focus on one thing or topic too much it drains your energy and you forget to have fun, so take breaks sometimes and do other things. trust me it'll help calm you down a lot
ReplyControlling (preventing and getting rid of) your thoughts is impossible. However, you can manage your thoughts. All thoughts come and go. Those that get your attention, opinions, added story, and emotions will stick around. This applies to good and bad, helpful and harmful, welcomed and unwanted thoughts. Some thoughts leave rather quickly and without much notice. This happens because these thoughts got nothing from you - no reaction at all. It is like they are presented in a language you do not understand.
So, when an unwanted thought shows up and they always will, let them be there as long as they last. Do not react or resist in any way. Eventually, some other thought will replace it. The unwanted thought will dissolve back into the nothingness from which it came. When a wanted (helpful) thought arrives, pay it attention, get excited, use your imagination, get emotional, add a story, and even allow it to direct your actions.
You are not your thoughts. You are the one who can and should decide which thoughts are worthy of further consideration, which ones are worthy of directing your activities.
This is managing your thoughts.
