I just learned that my partner doesn't believe or believe anything that I say because of half-truths I've told in the past. (ie. having to be asked multiple questions to get a complete answer because my trauma response is to retreat).
I asked specifically did he believe me when I informed him that I was a victim of sexual assault. He said that he doesn't believe or believe me. He doesn't have all the facts to say whether or not he believes me.
I immediately felt crushed. I would never lie about being raped.
I don't need him to believe me because I know what I've endured. How can you say you care about a person and not believe them when they share vulnerable moments like these?
