hi, this whole year has been awful for me with my eating habits, i was healthily losing weight (no restriction) through the first days of january, then i got sick and something happened where i just couldn’t stop eating and it hasnt stopped. its been months and my scale is broken and i dont know what i gained back. i feel so disgusting in my body and i don’t know what i can do, i have no one to talk to, no support system and no access to help. i dont even care about losing weight i just want it to stop. i have zero self control and its negatively impacting my health and my social life because i feel like my friends wouldn’t want to be seen with someone as big as me. is there anything i can do or am i just a lost cause?

Please speak to a dietician and/or nutritionist and get the help you need. No one is a lost cause.

You are not a lost cause. Binging is an emotional response and it causes feelings of guilt and shame that prolong the cycle of binging. My advice is to forgive yourself after a binge. Maybe try to read on ways to stop binging from sources that are medical or from mental health specialist. It's really hard to work on this by yourself, but not impossible. If you can talk about your feelings with someone you trust, please try. Don't try to restrict during the day to make up for a binge because ignoring your hunger can trigger a binge at the end of the day. Maybe try to track what triggers your binges (like loneliness, regret, depression, etc). You can learn and improve. I believe in you and please be forgiving on yourself.

Instead of unrealistic diets, try eating healthy. If you are a big snacker, choose a snack that is healthy, yummy and filling. If you feel like you never feel full, make sure you drink before and after eating. Drink as you eat. I also have no self control, so I just find loopholes that would satisfy me and keep me healthy.

I use to binge every day and I felt like I couldn't stop also. I didn´t want to go to a therapist because I didn´t want to be judged. So for years, I didn´t do anything about it. No matter what even if I didn´t even like the stuff I was eating I would still eat it. It took me a while but I realized that I couldn´t stop this on my own, so I told a trusted adult whom I felt wouldn´t judge me. I was right, so I still sometimes binge eat I'm not perfect no one is. But if you are really struggling tell someone you trust. It might be hard but it helped me out so much. If you don´t want to speak to an actual person there are apps that you can speak to a robot about it so it cant judge you. And you're not going to be perfect right off the bat, but if you find something you can think about or do instead of eating that will help. Like a hobby or a sport.
