Should I accept a job I'm not 100% certain about?

I am employed full-time. I have been with this company for almost 5 years, and while I like it, I don't seem to be moving up in the company. Furthermore, with the cost of things going up and the pay at my current company not increasing that much, then I am afraid if I stay with this company I will be homeless. Yes, I will have a job but I won't be able to afford food and/or rent.

I recently interviewed with another company and the pay would be an additional 5000 over my base plus commission. I have not done this type of sale in the past and it is freaking me out. What if I don't like the new job? What if I don't last that long? There are a lot of what-ifs.

I know what to expect from this company that I am currently with right now. I'm comfortable, but is being too comfortable at a job a good thing? Shouldn't we strive to be more? I just don't know anymore. I would like some help if anyone has anything in mind.

For me, it would depend on whether or not the new employer would be reliable. How long has the potential employer been in business? What is their work ethic? Do they have positive reviews from their employees? Is this a lateral move? Or would this move provide you with the opportunities for advancement you want to achieve?

Remember: If you believe in the product you're selling, you can sell it. Your product changes, not your technique.

    Good luck with your decision!

You worry about homelessness but then you worry about happiness and if you'll like the new job. Look just don't base your decision on thinking that you're supposed to want to improve etc. It's a ruse to keep you working hard for the gov.
