Are we all cowards and other questions

To those cheering "we're getting our country back!" I have some rhetorical questions:

- Are you handing it back to Native Americans?

- Why is the site of a loving LGBT couple holding hands so offensive that you have to stop it?

- How does a qualified, educated, patriotic African-American serving as president take so much away from you, that you have to take something back?

- WTF is it about someone working with a uterus that requires you to pander, condescend, clamp down on those glass ceilings?

- What exactly are hard-working, spiritual, community-supporting immigrants denying you?

- How is covering your head and praying to a God by another name so different than chanting with a rosary and begging for forgiveness?

- Why the ever-loving BLEEP is the idea of a nation united in hope and compassion, understanding and tolerance, acceptance and promise so terrifying that it threatens your PRIVILEGED, ENTITLED sense of existence? And to the extent that half of you passed on the person who - right and wrong - trained for this her entire career, opting instead for .. HIM.

I don't want the answers - hence no comments - b/c they scare the bejesus out of me. How did we do this to the US of America? WE ARE COWARDS.

This is a fake post. I am a chicken shit. I can't use my real name -- because I might (do) need one of you people to give me a job. Hell I have a 'real' fake site, but someone might WHOIS and then I'd be screwed. So I'm hiding this rant here.

Smart capable people have ideas but don't run for office because it would be hard. Because there will be skeletons in the closet, because ideas might offend somebody, risk a job and comfortable life and 401k and it's a 'one bad tweet gets you fired' world. Or a gazillion gets you elected POTUS.

Voting is easy. WE CAN DO MORE.

More than ever I have renewed respect for those who at least try to BE the change we need. Hell I even have to give props to those who trying to influence F&F on Facebook. It's pointless and obnoxious, but at least they FEEL, at least they BELIEVE w/ enough conviction to put their names and thoughts out there.

Voting is a click. Can't figure out what it is, or what I can do, but it HAS to be something.

So to all people on all sides complaining and unhappy, now's the time. HOPE is not a PLAN. We can read, write, study, learn, pay attention, call b.s. We can march, protest, donate and campaign. We can DO; unite, create and build. Something better. I have to believe. I know we can do better; the question is: will we?
