One of the most common phrases associated with forgiveness is to “forgive and forget”. Kati Morton suggests that forgiveness is more about being able to “forgive and live” than anything else.

Forgiveness and acceptance play a key role in daily life and in recovery as well. Kati suggests that by holding on to past hurts you are re-injuring yourself over and over again.

Learning how to forgive has much more to do with healing yourself than it has to do with the other person. Assessing the root cause of your pain and resentment towards another person in an objective manner is important for you to fully process what happened.

Remind yourself that true forgiveness doesn’t happen overnight, it takes time.

If you’re watching this video you’re taking a great step forward towards recovery though, and we applaud you for that! Be proud of yourself for actively seeking ways to accept your past and improve your overall wellbeing.
