After nearly 10 years living with social anxiety and not doing anything about it, Katarzyna Napiorkowska was properly diagnosed in early 2017 and has since been receiving therapy. Initially Kat thought she was just extremely shy, but over time she realized it was much deeper than that so she finally sought out professional help.
From Kat’s point of view, she describes her social anxiety as “self consciousness on steroids”. Making small talk, eating in public, holding a job, going on dates, and even socializing with friends give Kat horrible anxiety.
Luckily for Kat she found a creative outlet that allows her to express her feelings through art, but it still isn’t enough to magically cure her social anxiety. Out of everything she has tried, therapy is what has helped her the most. She recommends that you give it a try too if you’re in a similar situation.
