BuzzFeedYellow shares the testimonies of several people who are grieving the death of loved ones from suicide. This video conveys the ripple effect that suicide has on family and friends.
After each person talked about the aftermath of losing their parent, sibling, friend, or child, they were asked what they learned from it. The resounding answer was that the stigma surrounding mental health needs to be changed.
If you have a friend or family member who is brave enough to open up to you about their struggles with mental health, it is vital that you listen and take them seriously. If you are suffering from suicidal thoughts it is never too late to reach out.
Whether you can see it now or not, there are people that care about you and would be traumatized the rest of their life if you were gone. James, who lost his best friend to suicide, said “Mental health is not a weakness. It’s not weak to speak.”
Never give up on yourself.
